Originally
built in the early 1950's, the Greater Bakersfield Memorial Hospital, with
its original 112-bed facility is now known as the Bakersfield Memorial
Hospital . It has continued to grow to meet the needs of the community.
Numerous construction projects completed through the years have built BMH
into the regional medical center it is today. The facility now includes
over 250 general acute beds; over 45 specialty intensive care or post anesthesia
care beds; 13 operating rooms; a heavily used emergency room with a chest
pain center; a birthing center with a full-service NICU; four cardiac catheterization
labs; a full complement of diagnostic laboratory and imaging services;
outpatient surgery; and a freestanding 60-bed behavioral health and chemical
dependency facility. Again, BMH is expanding to meet the needs of the community.
VNSM was contracted to perform the installation of the general sheet metal
and the hospital's building expansion joints.
