The
House Ear Institute, located at 2100 West 3 rd Street in Los Angeles CA
, was originally established in 1946 as a private non-profit hearing research & educational
facility. Since its inception, the Institute has grown from a rented one-person
office to a five story building. The House Ear Institute is engaged in
the scientific exploration of the auditory system. HEI scientists continue
to explore hearing loss and ear disease at the cell and molecular level,
and the complex relationship between the ear and brain. They are also working
to improve hearing aids and auditory implants, diagnostics, clinical treatments
and intervention methods. The House Ear Institute's current five-story
facility accommodates more than 22 departments. The recent growth of their
research and studies
has prompted the development of a new expansion to the facility with the
construction of a new wing, scheduled for completion in 2007. VNSM was
contracted to install the general sheet metal, metal panels and louvers
at the mechanical room exteriors and the
new wing's building expansion joints. A collective effort between VNSM,
its vendors and General Contractor Rudolph and Sletten is needed to procure
our materials in a timely manner and to meet the House Ear Institute's
construction milestones. This project will stand as a testament to VNSM's
ability to coordinate work within the parameters of today's aggressive
construction environment.
